Media Notes: Broadcasters To Show More Than 283 Hours Of European Athletics Coverage

European Athletics announced broadcasters plan to show more than 283 hours of live or delayed coverage of the championships’ 33rd edition. The total number of hours of intended coverage is expected to increase once the broadcast intentions of some remaining rights-holders are received. European Athletics will also stream live on the www.european-athletics.org homepage the March 6-8 Championships (including some qualifications on March 5) with English-language commentary (European Athletics). ... ITV signaled bumper advertising revenues but blamed “strong competition from the BBC” for its continued decline in viewing figures. The U.K. commercial broadcaster said that "net advertising revenues would grow" 11% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2015 -- slightly above analysts’ estimates, boosted by spending being brought forward due to the U.K. general election. In '14, ad revenues rose 6% to £1.6B ($2.4B) (FINANCIAL TIMES, 3/4). ... Football subscription streaming hub fuboTV has added beIN Sports, a move "that gives it access to hundreds of football matches from around the blog," including fixtures from La Liga, Russian Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, as well as from England’s Championship, and the 2015 Copa America (MULTICHANNEL, 2/26). ... IMG announced that it will represent the global media rights of the Int'l Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s World Cup Series. As part of the multi-year deal, IMG will market the rights to the series across all platforms worldwide, as well as carry the series on EDGEsport, its 24-hour action sports channel which is currently broadcast in over 25 territories (IMG).
