Palmeiras Collect $16.8M In Highest Sponsorship Amount In Brazil

Brasileiro club Palmeiras will collect a total of R$50M ($16.8M) in sponsorship deals, making it "the team with the most valuable jersey in Brazil," according to Bernardo Itri of FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO. That figure passes both Flamengo, which recieves R$45M ($15M), and Corinthians, which receives R$33M ($11.1M), in collected sponsorship amounts. Palmeiras' "latest contract, which has not been announced," is with Faculdade das Americas (FAM) and is valid until '16. FAM will be "in the same group as Crefisa, the main sponsor," and will "stamp its mark on the hem of the jersey, on one of the shoulders and on one sleeve." For those spots as well as a "logo like Crefisa's across the chest," FAM will pay Palmeiras R$19M ($6.4M) annually. FAM's sponsorship pushed Palmeiras' jersey to make the "most from sponsors" in Brazil. Palmeiras "will have other sponsors" from previously closed deals as well: Crefisa Bank will pay R$23M ($7.7M) annually for its name across the chest and for its logo on a shoulder, health insurance company Prevent Senior will pay R$3M ($1M) for "its logo on a sleeve and a shoulder" and cell phone company Tim will pay R$3M ($1M) annually for the space inside the jersey's number on the back (FOLHA DE SÃO PAULO, 3/4). GLOBO ESPORTE reported that Palmeiras is also "close to surpassing 100,000 members." Palmeiras is now the club with the "second most members, only behind Internacional, with over 130,000 members" (GLOBO ESPORTE, 3/4).
