Flamengo Releases Retro-Style Jersey Celebrating Rio's 450th Anniversary

Brasileiro side Flamengo's new retro-style jersey, made by adidas and sponsored by Caixa bank, has been available for purchase since Tuesday, according to MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. Its release date "pays homage to Rio de Janeiro's 450th anniversary" and celebrates former player Zico's 62nd birthday. This design, which has "the inscription 'Rio de Janeiro 450 years,'" is reflective of the club's first jersey, worn in 1912. The "third jersey for the season," players wore it for the first time on the field on Sunday. The jersey is available through Brazilian team merchandise administrator Netshoes for R$219.90 ($73.91) (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 3/3).
