Barça Faces $112M Lawsuit From Construction Firm MCM Over Alleged Breach Of Contract

Barcelona is scheduled to be "back in court on Monday" to face a lawsuit filed "several months ago" in which construction firm Muro Cortina Modular Publicidad (MCM) is requesting €100M ($112M) in damages for breach of contract, according to MARCA. The first day of the civil hearing -- presided over by judge Antonio Morales -- is scheduled to begin inside Barcelona's district court 25. The lawsuit "stems from a breach of a contract" which MCM Owner Antonio García Valdecasas had signed with former club president Sandro Rosell, after both parties "thought it appropriate to cancel a previous contract -- signed by the club during Joan Laporta's presidency -- and redraft a new one." Barcelona Board of Directors Secretary Jordi Moix will represent Barcelona at the initial interrogation, while the witnesses proposed by MCM are former Barcelona GM Joan Olivé (under Laporta), former President Sandro Rosell, former GM Antoni Rossich (under Rosell), current VP Javier Faus, Laporta and Coca-Cola Iberian Partners Exec President Sol Daurella (MARCA, 3/1).
