New Zealand's MARTIN CROWE will be inducted into the Int'l Cricket Council Cricket Hall of Fame during the ICC Cricket World Cup '15 match between New Zealand and Australia at Eden Park in Auckland on Feb. 28. Crowe made his int'l debut against Australia in Wellington in Feb. '82 at the age of 19. He retired 13 years after playing 77 Tests, he had scored 5,444 at an average of 45.36, which included 17 centuries, the most by a New Zealand cricketer (ICC) ... Association of National Olympic Committees President SHEIKH AHMAD AL FAHAD AL SABAH is "set to be put forward for one of three positions for Asian representatives on the FIFA Exec Committee." The Kuwait FA has proposed Ahmad as a "candidate subject to official confirmation in the next two days." Ahmad will then decide whether to "take up the invitation" (INSIDE THE GAMES, 2/25). SOL CAMBELL's "desire to become a politician" has "taken a step further" after it was revealed that he has been urged to run for Mayor of London in '16. The 40-year-old former England int'l is "wanted by senior Conservative MPs" to replace BORIS JOHNSON in a year when the process begins after the General Election in May (London DAILY MAIL, 2/26). Team New Zealand said Wednesday that it was replacing DEAN BARKER as "America's cup skipper," prompting an "angry response from the experienced helmsman" who said he was "gutted" to have been "dumped." Syndicate Head GRAND DALTON said Barder had been "replaced" by rising star PETER BURLING, 24, a "world champion in the Moth and 49er yacht classes." Barker responded that Team New Zealand had assured his speculation earlier this month that he was to be dumped was "not correct" and he was "stunned to learn he had been axed" (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 2/26).
