Top 12 Brazilian Football Clubs Predicted To Generate $800M During '15 Season

Twelve of Brazil's largest football clubs are predicted to generate R$2.3B ($798.4M) in revenue in '15, according to LANCE!BIZZ. The "8% jump from 2014" is an estimate from Banco Itaú, which is "conducting a study" on the economic finances of Brazilian clubs for the '15 preseason. The study also "projected a high of 4% in team costs." The clubs "covered by the study" are Atletico-MG, Botafogo, Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Fluminense, Gremio, International, Palmeiras, Santos, Sao Paulo and Vasco. Itaú Credit Manager Cesar Grafietti: "Generally speaking, there needs to be a strong adjustment to costs once revenues do not appear as though they will grow in the coming years now that the contract with TV is a given, the public market has reduced club jersey prices and box offices can suffer losses" (LANCE!BIZZ, 2/23).
