Caixa Renews Corinthians Sponsorship For $10.5M For 2015 Season

Caixa Bank renewed its sponsorship contract with Brasileiro side Corinthians for the 2015 season, according to ESPORTE. The Diário Oficial da União "confirmed that the agreement closed last week and that the government-owned bank is paying the São Paulo club R$30M ($10.5M) this year." It "has been the highest paying shirt sponsorship among all Brazilian club teams." The deal will "lighten Corinthians' finances for now" (ESPORTE, 2/23). ESPN BRASIL reported that the deal once again "did not increase, which was expected." The sponsorship began in '12, when Caixa "paid R$1M to stamp its name on the jerseys during the Mundial de Clubes." (ESPN BRASIL, 2/23). In São Paulo, Raphael Ramos reported negotiations dragged on for several months and concluded only after the bank switched presidents. Caixa is "the largest Brazilian football sponsor and stamps its mark on the jerseys of 15 club teams in Séries A, B and C." Caixa has not yet confirmed if it "will renew all current deals, reduce or increase sponsorship quotas" (EM RESUMO, 2/23).
