La Liga Side Málaga Owner Al-Thani Faces Lawsuit From Hotel Chain BlueBay

La Liga side Málaga Owner Abdullah Al-Thani has announced that "he is the club's president and the owner of nearly all of its social capital," according to Carlos Cariño of AS. According to Spain's Superior Sports Council (CSD), exactly 96.8% of Málaga's shares "are the property of an organization" of which Al-Thani is a member. Hotel chain BlueBay has sued Al-Thani and his "former right hand man, Abdullah Ghubn, for undue appropriation, and is demanding 49% of those shares." Málaga execs "recognize that both parties agreed to an intentions protocol, but clarified that there was never a sale of the shares" (AS, 2/18).
