Bundesliga Side FC Cologne To Increase Stadium Capacity By 25,000 Seats

Bundesliga side FC Cologne "is considering increasing the capacity of its RheinEnergie Stadium in four phases by 25,000 seats," according to the EXPRESS. The arena currently holds 50,000 spectators. At the end of the proposed construction, the stadium "is expected to have 75,000 seats." In the first phase, the West Stand "will receive an additional 7,000 seats." The second phase "will see East Stand also get 7,000 new seats." The third phase will provide 5,500 new seats on the South Stand. And the fourth phase of the construction will put 5,500 new seats on the North Stand. In addition to the capacity increase, the club "plans to increase the size of the hospitality areas in the east and west by 2,000 square meters each." The business-seat area in the south along with the hospitality area in the north "will increase by 1,800 square meters apiece." The complete construction is expected to have a price tag of €50M ($57M) (EXPRESS, 1/28).
