Suspended Board of Control for Cricket in India President N. Srinivasan has reportedly decided to "de-link himself" from Indian Premier League side Chennai Super Kings and is "keen to seek another term" as BCCI president, according to Prakash Govindasreenivasan of NDTV. For Srinivasan to contest the BCCI polls, "which as per the court order must be completed within six weeks, he must first give up his stakes in Chennai Super Kings." Srinivasan's company India Cements is the owner of CSK. Srinivasan will reportedly sell off his stake in the CSK franchise "within the next two weeks and then file an affidavit saying there is no conflict of interest anymore." The IPL governing council meeting, scheduled for Feb. 3, has "also been postponed." Srinivasan has also started de-merging CSK from India Cements and "made it a separate subsidiary hoping that the court will give him a reprieve" (NDTV, 1/25). The DECCAN CHRONICLE reported the BCCI’s permission is "necessary for the sale of any IPL team" and in this case such an authorization is "certain to be a formality." The sale process "could go through quickly as the owner may have already identified a potential buyer" (DECCAN CHRONICLE, 1/25).
