Media Notes: NBA, BT Sport Announce Multi-Year Partnership Extension

The NBA and BT Sport announced a multi-year expansion of their TV partnership that will provide fans in the U.K. and Ireland with an enhanced NBA viewing experience. Starting with the '15-16 season, BT Sport will broadcast up to seven live games per week throughout the regular season and the first and second rounds of the playoffs, as well as every game of the conference finals and NBA Finals in June, all appearing across BT Sport, BT Sport 2 and ESPN. Major NBA events, including NBA All-Star, Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Day will also be covered exclusively on TV by BT Sport (NBA). ... U.K. MP Sharon Hodgson said that Sky Sports "should not screen live football on Remembrance Sunday this year." Hodgson called on Sports Minister Helen Grant "to ask the television network to reconsider scheduling games for the Sunday in November in order to 'respect the original intentions of this special day.'" Four top-flight games "took place Remembrance Sunday last November, with Newcastle United's trip to West Brom and Swansea versus Arsenal screened live on Sky" (PA, 1/15).
