Spanish Fan, Minority Shareholder Body FASFE Files Complaint Regarding TV Rights To EU

Spain's FASFE, a network of fans and minority shareholders of clubs, along with the Int'l Soccer Center, have presented to the European Union's competition commission a complaint about the "unjust, unequal and anti-competitive system of TV rights distribution," according to AS. FASFE said that the complaint is based on "the current system's violation of EU regulations that expressly prohibit anti-competitive practices." The claim "demands the elimination of the major distortion of competitions in our country, and by extension, European competitions, and the implementation of a system using centralized sale of TV rights." FASFE is seeking a "more balanced, more financially sustainable competition" (AS, 12/30).
