Twitter Suspends Bleacher Report UK Following Complaint From Premier League

Twitter suspended the account of "popular sports website" Bleacher Report after a "complaint by the Premier League" that it was displaying unauthorized "video clips of football games," according to Alex Spence of the LONDON TIMES. Fans of Bleacher Report’s British edition received a message saying "Sorry, that user is suspended" when they "tried to access its Twitter feed on Wednesday and Thursday." Twitter reportedly "temporarily removed Bleacher Report UK from its social media platform because the Premier League said it was sharing Vine snippets of football games to which it did not own the video rights." Bleacher Report is owned by Time Warner. The Premier League has reportedly "complained to Twitter about other media companies with large followings that it claims have been sharing clips in violation of its copyright" (LONDON TIMES, 12/20).

ARSENAL HITS MILESTONE: REUTERS' Tony Jimenez reported Arsenal has become "the first Premier League club to reach five million followers on Twitter." Arsenal said in a statement that it had consolidated its position as "the third most followed team on the social network behind Real Madrid and Barcelona" (REUTERS, 12/22).
