Spanish Footballers' Association Announces 60 LFP Players Claim Clubs Owe Them $8.7M

The Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) has "officially announced the number of complaints filed by footballers in the country's top three divisions," according to AS. In La Liga and the Spanish second division, 60 claims have been filed against 13 teams for a total of €7M ($8.7M) in owed salary, while in the third tier, 28 claims were filed against 11 clubs for a total of €234,200 ($290,600). The number of claims by La Liga and second division players has increased for the second consecutive year, "increasing 74% from a year ago, when 34 claims were filed against 13 clubs." The quantity of payment demanded has "increased by 357%," as players claimed they were owed a total of €1.5M a year ago. On the other hand, the total money players in the third division claim they are owed "dropped for the fourth consecutive year." The claims "are now in the hands of the clubs" (AS, 12/16).
