Colombian James Rodríguez is "not only profitable for Real Madrid because of his performance and minutes played," according to Óscar Zárate of MUNDO DEPORTIVO. His "signing this summer continues to be fruitful" for Real President Florentino Pérez, whose construction firm ACS "was just awarded a contract to build a highway in Colombia" at a cost of €820M ($1.01B). This is the second highway construction project ACS has been awarded in Colombia "as part of the country's plan for the construction of new highways." The newest contract is "in addition to one signed by ACS in September for the Conexión Pacífico 1, a 49-km highway connecting Medellín to the valley of Caucaque," budgeted at €692M ($857.5M) (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 12/15). The AFP reported a consortium led by ACS won a contract worth $1.2B to "build part of a high-speed railway system in California." The California High-Speed Rail Authority "selected the consortium to build a 105-kilometre (65-mile) segment of the system between the city of Fresno to Bakersfield." The consortium includes ASC subsidiary Dragados USA Inc., Flatiron, "which is controlled by Germany's Hochtief which belongs to ACS," and U.S. firm Schimmick Construction (AFP, 12/12).
