World Anti-Doping Agency To Receive Large Donations From 13 Countries, IOC

World Anti-Doping Agency should "benefit in the months to come from a special fund of more than $21M earmarked for research," according to SPORT 24. WADA management announced Sunday that thirteen countries, including the United States (€4.7M) ($5.9M), Japan, China, Qatar (€800,000)($1M), and France (€150,000)($188,000), promised to donate more than $11.5M, while the IOC gave a $10M commitment. By comparison, the WADA research budget amounted to $5.4M for 2014. The funds will be managed by the health/medical research committee, which will be chaired by the former French Minister of Sports Valérie Fourneyron starting on Jan. 1 (SPORT 24, 11/16).
