Germany's Fourth World Cup Title Results In $5.7M Profit For German Football Federation

Germany's fourth World Cup title "has not only been a sporting success but also from a financial standpoint," according to the SID. The German Football Federation (DFB) has generated a profit of €4.5M ($5.7M) due to its triumph in Brazil. The federation originally calculated a profit of €3.4M ($4.3M) in the case of a World Cup victory. Half of the profits will go to the German Football League (DFL), according to the basic treaty between the federation and the league. DFB Treasurer Reinhard Grindel: "The fact that we have been able to achieve this result is, of course, first and foremost the achievement of our great team." Grindel added that the DFB "will use its half of the profit to bolster its budget." The DFB received $35M from FIFA for its World Cup victory (SID, 10/24).
