League Notes: NBA, Basketball England Partner For Jr. NBA Basketball England League

The NBA and Basketball England announced a new, multi-year partnership to create the Jr. NBA Basketball England League -- a secondary school basketball program for boys and girls ages 11-12. The Jr. NBA Basketball England League will feature 30 youth teams across London playing an eight-game season followed by single-elimination playoffs to determine the league champion (NBA). ... India's Supreme Court "refused to pass any order on the plea" to restrain Int'l Cricket Council Chair N. Srinivasan from participating in the Nov. 20 annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and "to declare as illegal the continuance of its office bearers" due to the failure of the BCCI to hold its election prior to Sep. 30. The apex court said that before taking any call on the issue, "it will wait for the outcome of the inquiry of the Justice Mukul Mudgal Committee" which is probing the Indian Premier League betting and spot-fixing scandal and is scheduled to file its final report by Nov. 10 (PTI, 10/13).
