UFC Senior VP Explains Preparations Being Made For UFC 180 In Mexico City

Over "the next few days, all the technical aspects of the first UFC fight held in Mexico will be defined," according to Carlos Contreras Legaspi of LA AFICION. Next week, UFC Senior VP of Regulatory Affairs Marc Ratner will be in Mexico City to "finalize the details with the MMA Latin American Council (CLAMM)." The fight will take place Nov. 15 in Mexico City, with the headline bout pitting heavyweights Caín Velásquez and Fabricio Werdum. Ratner said, "When we came to the ticket sales conference, Mexico City's Sports Institute recommended CLAMM to us, as they have experience in MMA events." Ratner added, "For this function in particular all the officials that we use are the best in the world, with a lot of experience, mostly coming from North America. We expect this to be a great event and for now we will not use officials from Mexico City" (LA AFICION, 10/1).
