Athletics Australia To Consider Changes In Structure After Eric Hollingsworth Exit

Athletics Australia "will consider changes to its high-performance structure after parting ways" with national head coach Eric Hollingsworth, according to Nicole Jeffery of NEWS CORP. When Hollingsworth was sent home from the Commonwealth Games last month after publicly criticizing team captain Sally Pearson, "it was inevitable that his contract would not be renewed next month." Athletics Australia President David Grace confirmed that "the national body had reached agreement on the terms of Hollingsworth’s resignation." Grace: "As far as we were concerned his position was untenable as head coach at that time and we suspended him then." AA High Performance Dir Simon Nathan will perform both roles temporarily but Grace said that "the AA board was in no hurry to appoint a new head coach while it goes through two reviews of the sport and its management structures in response to the troubled Glasgow campaign" (NEWS CORP, 9/5).
