German 3rd League Side MSV Duisburg Generates $672,000 Through Club Bonds

German 3rd League football club MSV Duisburg has generated €519,000 ($672,000) "through its club bond called 'Zebra-Anleihe,'" according to the DPA. MSV Chair Ingo Wald said that the club is "not unsatisfied" with the amount. The club, which put the bond on the market more than one year ago, "confirmed the amount on Thursday." The club "did not receive a 2nd Bundesliga license ahead of the '13-14 season due to economic reasons and has been playing in the third division since." The money from the bonds, which have a duration of five years, "will be used to optimize the club's financial structures and reduce its dependance on banks and investors" (DPA, 9/4).
