Facility Notes: Mexican Baseball Stadium's Roof Collapses From Heavy Rainfall

The roof of Mexican baseball stadium Práxedis Balboa, located in Ciudad Victoria, "collapsed due to intense rainfall over the past 24 hours, provoked by Tropical Storm Dolly." The roof "reportedly fell" at 6:30am on Thursday. No "victims or injuries have been reported" (LA AFICION, 9/4). ... The SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany has completed a 14-week remodeling process that included the installation of new LED technology. The new elements consist of a new video cube along with bottom and top LED rings (SAP Arena). ... Almeria, Spain's Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, the home of La Liga side Almería, is changing its playing surface, "which has been in use for seven seasons." The project "was expected to be completed by Thursday." The club is "betting on Nordic grass, which will adapt to" Almería's winter weather. The reform "will aim to give the field a more efficient drainage system" (MARCA, 9/4).
