Media Notes: Chinese Social Media Sites Receive 229K Hits Over 'Shock' Evergrande Exit

Football websites and social media in China "were abuzz" with reaction after Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande's "shock elimination" in AFC Champions League. An "amazing 60 million hits were recorded" in the Sina Weibo discussion "Guangzhou Evergrande" as of Thursday morning and topics on the website that broadcast the game live included "AFC Evergrande," "AFC Champions League" and "Evergrande vs Western Sydney" receiving a total 229,016 hits (CHINA DAILY, 8/28). ... La Liga and the Copa del Rey will be broadcast in Cyprus by PrimeTel this season. The pay broadcaster has "reportedly agreed a deal with the Asset OgilvyEntertainment agency," which sells rights to Spanish football in Cyprus (SOCCEREX, 8/27).
