AirAsia India Signs Sponsorship Deal With Indian Premier League Side Kings XI Punjab

AirAsia India signed up with Indian Premier League side Kings XI Punjab "as the official back of the shirt sponsor" for the Champions League T20 2014, beginning Sept. 13, according to M. Saraswathi of BERNAMA. AirAsia Group has "also been a sponsor of the Malaysia national football team, Singapore national football team" and EPL side Queens Park Rangers. Kings XI Punjab is "one of eight competing teams" promoted by the IPL (BERNAMA, 8/27). The PTI reported Kings XI Punjab, which made it to the final in the last IPL, "is co-owned by actress Preity Zinta." Zinta and industrialist Ness Wadia have a 23% stake each, industrialist Mohit Burman has 46% and Apeejay-Surrendra Group Chair Karan Paul and Delhi-based company Root Investment have 4% each (PTI, 8/26).
