Top Spanish Women's Sports Federations To Receive $1.3M From Spain's CSD

Spain's Superior Sports Council (CSD) informed national women's sports federations that it will allocate €1M ($1.3M) "for the promotion, development and participation in women's sports," according to the EFE. The "announcement of this allocation is expected to be published" in an Official State Bulletin (BOE) in September and it aims to "provide social aid for high-level female athletes and for members of national teams to receive care for their children younger than the age of three." Academic assistance for women's national team members "will also be one of the objectives of the initiative, which proposes aid for federations to contract ex-athletes and introduce projects to improve the presence, participation and results in women's sports." To benefit from this assistance, "a federation's exec board must feature at least three women or have women represent at least 33% of the positions in its governing body" (EFE, 8/26).
