Sky Deutschland Draws High Ratings For Opening Weekend Bundesliga Broadcasts

German pay-TV channel Sky Deutschland "recorded more than satisfying ratings for its broadcast of Saturday's Bundesliga games," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. An average of 1.23 million viewers tuned in to watch the opening weekend games starting at 3:30pm. Sky obtained a market share of 10.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, Sky's coverage attracted 680,000 viewers and had a 14.4% share. Saturday's late game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen, which started at 6:30pm, was watched by 860,000 viewers and recorded a 4.2% market share. Leverkusen's 2-0 win obtained a 5.9% share in the target demographic as 390,000 viewers tuned in. German public broadcaster ARD attracted 4.31 million viewers for its Bundesliga highlights show "Sportschau," which started at 6:30pm. The number translated into a market share of 22.5%. In the target demographic, the show obtained a market share of 15.3% as 970,000 viewers tuned in (QUOTENMETER, 8/24).
