Swiss To Hand Over French Footballer Marcel Desailly's Bank Data To French Tax Authorities

Switzerland will turn over bank account details on French footballer Marcel Desailly, the "third time this year it has agreed to hand over data" on a French player, according to Carolyn Bandel of BLOOMBERG. Swiss tax authorities will comply with a Dec. 23 request from their French counterparts to "turn over information on the former player's account with UBS AG (UBSN)." Desailly has "30 days to say whether he is opposed to the transfer." Switzerland is assisting France under a "longstanding agreement aimed at eliminating double taxation and preventing fraud and tax evasion" (BLOOMBERG, 8/19).
