Media Notes: UEFA Renews Latin America Broadcast Deals With ESPN, Fox

Fox Sports Latin America and ESPN Int'l have secured the rights to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League across Latin America and the Caribbean until '17-18. Both broadcasters will remain UEFA partners in the region in a new three-year deal starting in '15. Fox Sports Latin America Senior VP for Programming & Acquisitions Francisco Pazmiño said, "Fox Sports has enjoyed its partnership with UEFA since 2009 and we are very happy to continue this partnership through at least 2018." The two broadcasters will share the rights but "continue to simulcast the Champions League and Europa League finals, plus the Super Cup each year." No financial details were "immediately available" (SOCCEREX, 8/8). ... A search trend study by Google revealed that wrestler Sushil Kumar, who won the gold medal in the men's 74kg-category at the Glasgow Games, was the "most searched along with fellow teenage female grappler Vinesh Phogat," who won the gold in the 48kg-category.
