Chinese Sports Organizations, Teams Donate To Yunnan Earthquake Victims
Chinese sports organizations "offered help" to the victims of a 6.5-magnitude earthquake that hit Ludian county in Southwest China's Yunnan Province, according to the GLOBAL TIMES. China League One club Qingdao Jonoon decided to make its Chinese FA Cup game against Jiangsu Sainty on Wednesday "a charity event." Donations "will be taken before the game starts and all the ticket revenue from the match will be donated." League Two side Sichuan Longfor Football Club, a team based in Santai county which was hard-hit in the '08 Wenchuan earthquake, "will offer free tickets for the game against Meixian Juncheng Hakka at the weekend to anyone who donates to Ludian." Evergrande Group, the major sponsor of Chinese Super League leaders Guangzhou Evergrande, donated 10M yuan ($1.62M) and 2 million bottles "of its Evergrande Spring water through China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation" (GLOBAL TIMES, 8/6).
