Executive Transactions

Brazil is set to name its new manager, with reports suggesting DUNGA "is likely to return to the post." Brazil will announce its new manager on Tuesday. Reports said that Dunga "will get the job, although the Brazilian football confederation has declined to confirm the appointment." The return of Dunga, who coached the national team in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, "seems to be linked" to the naming of GILMAR RINALDI as the new technical director, replacing CARLOS ALBERTO PARREIRA (AP, 7/21)... CARLOS MAYOR was introduced on Sunday as the new coach of Argentine first division side Godoy Cruz. Mayor's assistants will be HUGO GARELLI and CRISTIAN BARDARO (DYN, 7/20). ... Australian Football League side Carlton has appointed STEVEN TRIGG as its new CEO "in a move which has created yet another vacancy at the helm of an AFL club, with Adelaide immediately embarking upon its own executive search." The Blues board "voted to give the recently suspended Trigg a second chance in their determination to install a new boss with AFL experience and following a strong endorsement" from league CEO GILLON MCLACHLAN. Trigg "is expect to depart Adelaide by the end of the season, with that club testing potential candidates against its two strong internal prospects," NIGEL SMART and DAVID NOBLE (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 7/21).
