Marketplace Roundup: Adidas Releases 'The Final' Spot Promoting Cup Final

Adidas is "no strangers to producing pretty epic football adverts," so it is "no surprise" that the brand released a spot titled "The Final" ahead of Sunday's World Cup final between adidas-sponsored sides Germany and Argentina. The ad calls on "both sets of players to 'give everything and regret nothing'" (METRO, 7/13). ... Second Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli has extended its sponsorship deal with BMW subsidiary Mini through June 30. Mini will remain the club's car partner for a fifth consecutive year. The deal was brokered by the club's marketing partner UFA Sports (FC St. Pauli). ... Indian food products marketing organization Amul announced its sponsorship of the Indian contingents for the the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and Asian Games via a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Olympic Association (Indian BUSINESS STANDARD, 7/11).

IN SPAIN: La Liga side Rayo Vallecano's recently signed shirt sponsorship deal with China-based NJQY Sports Management will "have a duration of three years, although there is a clause" stating that Rayo -- which has been promoted to La Liga from the Spanish second division for next season -- must remain in the top tier. If the club is relegated back to the second division, "the contract would be voided." The three-year deal is worth a total of €2.1M ($2.9M). The agreement also states that Rayo must play a friendly in China next summer and help strengthen the country's youth football (AS, 7/12). ... Spanish Moto3 team Aspar announced it will partner with Indian manufacturer Mahindra for next season. Aspar is looking to line up two riders on the Moto3 grid next year (MotoGP).

HBL DEALS: Handball Bundesliga (HBL) side MT Melsungen has agreed to a new premium partnership with printing company E. Sauerland. The one-year deal will see the printing company's logo on the front and back of the players' shorts and includes full-page ads in the MT Magazine (MT Melsungen). ... HBL side TSV Hannover-Burgdorf has signed an early contract extension with partner Sparkasse Hannover. The club extended the deal with the financial institution for another three years until '17. Sparkasse Hannover has been a partner of the team for four years (TSV Hannover-Burgdorf).

INT'L FOOTBALL: The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) and adidas extended their partnership through '22. The FMF's partnership with adidas dates back to '07 (adidas). ... League Two side Oxford United launched a new kit deal with Avec Sport and unveiled its home and away kits for the upcoming season. Avec will also supply kits for Oxford's women's team and support the club's Centre of Excellence. The new home shirt features a predominantly yellow body with a navy chest panel (Oxford United). ... Portuguese side FC Porto has developed a graphic design celebrating its partnership with shoe brand New Balance. The new design's motto is "Same Flame, New Balance" (FC Porto). ... League Championship club Sheffield Wednesday announced a new shirt sponsorship with Azerbaijan. The club's home and away shirts will feature the "Azerbaijan Land Of Fire" logo. La Liga side Atlético Madrid and Ligue 1 side RC Lens also have deals with Azerbaijan. The shirt deal is independent of Azerbaijani Hafiz Mammadov's ongoing takeover of the club (Sheffield Wednesday). ... A-League side Sydney FC has added Hitec Drainage as a corporate partner. As Sydney FC's technical partner for the '14-15 season, Hitec will receive matchday exposure on the coaching staff clothing and apparel and in the technical area. It will also receive hospitality, ticketing and marketing benefits (Sydney FC). ... League One side Swindon Town announced that Excalibur Communications will sponsor the back of its '14-15 home shirt. The club also revealed agriculture machinery dealership Cotswold Farm Machinery as its back of shirt sponsor for road games during the upcoming season (Swindon Town).
