Facility Notes: Japan Sport Council Unveils Images Of Redesigned Tokyo National Stadium

The Japan Sport Council "has now unveiled images of ZHA’s redesigned Tokyo National Stadium, which Zaha Hadid Architects say will 'make the stadium even more efficient, user-focused, adaptable and sustainable.'" The capacity of the stadium "will remain at 80,000 seats." The Japanese Government "had already announced a plan to reduce the cost from its original budget" of $3B to $1.7B (ARCH DAILY, 7/10). ... Thousands of League One Coventry City fans "have staged a rally calling for the club's return to the Ricoh Arena." Supporters marched from Gosford Green to the city center "to call for an end to a long-running rent dispute." In an open letter to fans, the club's owners said they were "ready and willing" to discuss a deal with Arena Coventry Ltd. (BBC, 7/12).
