New Cronulla Sharks Sponsor Labour Health CEO Regan Brown Believes More Deals To Come

The CEO of National Rugby League side Cronulla's new major sponsor has revealed that "he approached the Sharks last week in support of their decision to sack five-eighth Todd Carney -- and the tough stance on discipline is set to earn the club more sponsorship deals," according to Brad Walter of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Labour Health CEO Regan Brown phoned Sharks Sponsorship Manager Luke Edmonds last Tuesday "offering to sponsor the club for the rest of the season, with an option for 2015 to be negotiated in the next month." The lifelong Cronulla supporter said that "he backed the swift action taken against Carney and called Edmonds after learning via news reports that the Sharks did not have a major sponsor." Brown: "The action that they took was good, I thought it showed that the club was protecting its image. I wanted to have my business associated with someone who could make a stance like that and show that was not something they were going to tolerate so it made me move forward with it." The Sharks "are set to announce more sponsorship deals on the back of the decision to sack Carney," while former St. George Illawarra mentor Steve Price "is tipped to be appointed as head coach for the rest of the season after Tim Sheens knocked back the job last week" (SMH, 7/6).
