English Premier League Chair Vacant Again As Anthony Fry Steps Down

The Premier League "is set to begin its second search for a new chairman in just over 12 months after Anthony Fry stepped down from the role" on Monday because of ill health, according to Tony Barrett of the LONDON TIMES. As he has done since March, "Peter McCormick, a senior partner in the Harrogate-based McCormick’s Solicitors, will continue to stand in as acting chairman of the Premier League." Former London 2012 Deputy Chair Keith Mills and former Barclaycard CEO Gary Hoffman, who both missed out on the position last year when Fry was appointed, "are likely to come under consideration again." With Richard Scudamore not due to return as CEO until late July after undergoing heart surgery at the beginning of June, General Secretary Nic Coward "will continue to oversee the day-to-day running of the organisation" (LONDON TIMES, 7/1).
