Australian Cricketers' Association CEO Expresses Concern Over Day-Night Tests

Australian cricketers have "warned their governing body not to rush into staging day-night Test matches" after Cricket Australia announced on Monday that "a floodlit match against New Zealand is planned" for the '15-16 season, according to the LONDON TIMES. The Australian Cricketers' Association is "concerned that the pink ball is not yet ready for first-class cricket, based on experience with the ball during the Sheffield Shield season." ACA CEO Paul Marsh said, "The overwhelming majority of players believe the pink Kookaburra ball isn't yet ready for test cricket. They've told us that it went soft very quickly, didn't swing, didn't seam and didn't reverse swing. As such it is a ball that is very difficult to get batsmen out with, but also difficult to score runs against because it gets soft quickly" (LONDON TIMES, 7/1).
