The FA of Wales "has confirmed that the 2014 UEFA Super Cup final in Cardiff is on course for a sell-out."
The match, which will be played at Cardiff City Stadium on Aug. 12 between Real Madrid and Sevilla, "will see the homecoming" of Wales player Gareth Bale for European champions Madrid" (SOUTH WALES ARGUS, 6/30). ... After the "excitement" of the Football Federation Australia Cup draw on Friday, the FFA "has confirmed the kick-off times for the full set of fixtures for the round of 32."
Broadmeadow Magic and Brisbane Strikers "will make history as the first two clubs to be shown on Fox Sports’ live and exclusive coverage of the FFA Cup" on July 29, while there "will be single camera coverage at the other three matches on opening night for live in-game updates" (FOX SPORTS, 6/30). ... A host of celebrities, VIPs, MPs, teams, drivers and press gathered at London’s Roundhouse on Monday evening to celebrate the official Global Launch for the new all-electric FIA Formula E Championship.
