Int'l Cricket Council Announces Changes Following Conference Week In Melbourne

The Int'l Cricket Council presented various reports as it concluded its annual conference week in Melbourne last week. The ICC board reported that it made progres on the Future Tours Program, which has been extended through '23. The ICC Development Committee has also been reconstituted to emphasize the importance of developing the game beyond its tradtional boundaries. The committee will be chaired by the ICC chairman and include the three associate member representatives of the ICC Board, the three associate member representatives on the ICC CEO's committee and the affiliate members' global representative. The ICC board also agree to give T20I status to the Netherlands and Nepal, both of which qualified for ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014 (ICC). In Mumbai, Vijay Tagore wrote following the "huge success" of the Indian Premier League in the Middle East centers, "it was expected that the Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will become the automatic destinations for the Champions League, which, otherwise, has failed to attract crowds." But at the league's governing council meeting, it was decided that the tournament "should be staged in India" (MUMBAI MIRROR, 6/29).
