Work At Russian F1 Racetrack In Sochi Continues; New Stand Set To Open

Organizers of the first Russian F1 Grand Prix are continuing with their preparations and announced the opening of another stand, according to the SID. The new construction in the Olympic host city of Sochi "will be located at the end of the start and finish straight and provides seating to 7,000 spectators." Race promoter Sergey Vorobyov said, "Due to huge demand we have decided to install another stand at an interesting point on the track." The FIA and organizers in Sochi "confirmed the 16th round of the 2014 season will take place as scheduled on Oct. 12 despite recent doubts due to the Russian-Ukraine crisis" (SID, 6/26).
