Automotive Supplier Continental To Sign On As Stadium Naming-Rights Partner

Germany-based automotive supplier Continental "will reportedly sign on as the naming-rights partner of the new stadium of 3rd League football club SSV Jahn Regensburg," according to BR. Nothing has been made official yet, but "everything points at Continental" as the new naming-rights partner. The city confirmed that it has found a naming-rights partner for the new stadium. The partner "will be officially presented on Wednesday." Jahn Regensburg's shirt sponsor, mustard producer Händlmaier, said that it will not be the naming-rights partner of the new stadium (BR, 6/23).

WÜRZBURG ARENA: BR reported "plans for a new multi-purpose arena in Würzburg have been put on ice due to missing investors" for the €30M ($40,8M) project. Instead of a new arena, the area "will be used as parking spaces for surrounding office buildings." Originally, plans "called for a garage beneath the new 6,000-seat arena." However, the relegation of basketball club s.Oliver Baskets "seems to have stalled the arena project" (BR, 6/24).
