Int'l Cricket Council Annual Report Omits Indian Premier League Scandal

The Indian Premier League spot-fixing scandal "which shook international cricket" failed "to get any mention in the International Cricket Council’s annual report" for '13-14, according to Jasvinder Sidhu of the HINDUSTAN TIMES. Interestingly, the ICC’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit "has a lucrative contract" with the Board of Control for Cricket in India "to check and detect corruption in IPL." The report, though, discusses the "high profile" Bangladesh Premier league match- and spot-fixing "in detail." An ICC spokesperson "defended the treatment in the report." The spokesperson said, “The ICC provided very similar anti-corruption cover and support to the IPL as it did to the BPL in 2013. However, the circumstances were nevertheless very different, and shouldn’t be compared” (HINDUSTAN TIMES, 6/22).
