Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) club Medi Bayreuth has appointed MARTIN SCHIERHOLZ as its new administrative managing director. Schierholz started his new position on June 2 (Medi Bayreuth). ... Italian coach ROBERT MANCINI "has parted company with Turkish club Galatasaray after just nine months in the job." Mancini arrived in Istanbul at the end of September on a three-year deal "after being sacked" by Man City in May '13 (AFP, 6/11). ... Former Australian Football League CEO ANDREW DEMETRIOU "has accepted his first board position" since departing the AFL, becoming a shareholder of the sports marketing company Bastion Group, which helps broker sponsorship deals for large organizations including AFL clubs. AFL CEO GILLON MCLACHLAN's brother, HAMISH, owns 25% of Bastion which was founded by former Adelaide and St. Kilda footballer FERGUS WATTS. Demetriou "has also been strongly linked" to board positions with the Seven Network and Crown (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 6/11).
