League Notes: German Hockey League To Move HQs From Cologne To Neuss In August

The German Hockey League (DEL) "will move its headquarters from Cologne to Neuss on Aug. 1." The reason for the move is Neuss' "central location" between Cologne, Dusseldorf and Krefeld, as well as "a very attractive offer by the city." The DEL 2, which was founded last year and is located in Munich, "is also expected to relocate to Neuss" (SID, 6/10). ... The Swiss Football League released the schedules for the Super League and Challenge League for the '14-15 season. The first of each league's 36 matchdays kicks off on the weekend of July 19-20 (SFL). ... Asian Football Confederation President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa "won a battle to merge the region’s presidency with the Fifa vice-presidency Monday in a move which could help him increase his power at the next leadership election." The change "had been fiercely opposed" by Asia FIFA VP Ali bin Al Hussein, of Jordan, who "suggested the Bahraini sheikh was motivated by self-interest" (AFP, 6/10). ...  Football Federation Australia has apologized "unreservedly" for Monday's "administrative bungle" in which Michael McGlinchey's signing with the Wellington Phoenix "was announced prematurely" (DOMINION POST, 6/10).
