League Notes: Singapore-Born Olympic Table Tennis Players To Receive Trust Fund

The Singapore Table Tennis Association said that Singapore-born table tennis players who make it to the Olympics "will no longer have to worry about funding their tertiary education." The STTA "announced the establishment of the STTA-Dr Tahir & Associates Future Ready Trust Fund on Monday morning." It has a value of S$1M ($800,000) -- the largest ever philanthropic sum donated to the STTA by an individual -- which "goes towards qualified paddlers' tuition fees at any local or foreign university" (STRAITS TIMES, 6/9). ... The Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation "has a range of plans for the coming season, including building a karting track and looking at means and ways to bring Formula 1 to Qatar" (GULF TIMES, 6/8).
