Olympic Notes: Tokyo Olympic Committee Sets Up 170-Strong Advisory Council
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Organizing Committee "set up an advisory council Thursday consisting of 170 people from various parts of society to make sure the Games are held comprehensively with an 'all-Japan' effort." Organizing Committee President Yoshiro Mori said that the council "was set up in order to get wide-ranging advice on holding the lucrative sporting extravaganza from as many viewpoints as possible." The council "is to be chaired" by PM Shinzo Abe (JAPAN TIMES, 6/5). ... The Int'l Rugby Board said that "it has joined" an IOC program "aimed at tackling illegal betting, match-fixing and corruption in sports." The IOC said the IRB "was the first Olympic summer international federation to sign up to its monitoring program dubbed Integrity Betting Intelligence System" (AP, 6/5).
