Lennon "parted company" with Celtic on Thursday. Larsson is a "crowd favourite at Celtic" (REUTERS, 5/22). ... F1 designer ADRIAN NEWEY "has pledged his future to Red Bull," ending speculation that a £20M ($33M) overture from Ferrari could lure him away from the reigning champions. He ''ended speculation" Wednesday night. Newey: "I remain committed to Red Bull for the foreseeable future" (London TELEGRAPH, 5/22). ... Football Federation Australia Chair FRANK LOWY "has challenged whoever succeeds him in Australian football’s most senior post to ensure they never miss another World Cup." It "was under Lowy that the Socceroos went from boasting a solitary appearance in 1974 to a hat-trick of successful qualification campaigns" (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 5/22).

SUAREZ INJURED: Uruguay striker LUIS SUÁREZ "has injured his knee in training and could be a doubt for the World Cup." Suarez had surgery to repair an injured meniscus on Thursday. His recovery time is "from 15 days" to four weeks. His recovery time is "likely to depend on the extend of the damage discovered during Thursday's procedure" (BBC, 5/22).
