Brazil's Ministry Of Tourism Expecting World Cup To Attract 3.7 Million Tourists

Less than a month "from the start of the World Cup in Brazil, the anticipation is spreading throughout the world," according to MUNDO DEPORTIVO. Brazil's Ministry of Tourism is "expecting the event to draw 3.7 million tourists" who are expected to spend a total of €2.19B ($2.99B) during the Cup. Of the "nearly 4 million visitors, 1.9 are expected to attend the games." The event "is expected to move the masses not only in Brazil, as FIFA's estimated global TV audience for the opening ceremonies on June 12 is 500 million and up to 1 billion viewers are expected to tune in for the final on July 13." The total money that brands including Sony, Visa, adidas and Coca-Cola will spend to sponsor the event will exceed €1.03B ($1.4B). This World Cup is expected to raise 10% more money than the 2010 World Cup in South Africa (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 5/22).
