Sport1 Secures Rights To 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship In Italy

German sports network Sport1 "has acquired the rights to the 2014 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship," according to Alexander Krei of DWDL. The channel "will show a total of about 15 games, including all games of the German national team, live on free TV." The championship will take place in Italy from Sept. 23-Oct. 12. Sport1 "purchased platform-neutral rights to the event for Germany, Austria and Switzerland from sports marketing agency IMG Media." Sport1 Managing Dir Olaf Schröder said, "During the European championship in Germany, the volleyball players excited the Sport1 viewers with their sport. This success story has not yet been completed: Sport1 will be in middle of the action when the fairy tale is expected to continue during the world championship in Italy" (DWDL, 5/19).
