Media Notes: FINA Renews Agreement With Japan's TV Asahi Through '19 Worlds

The Int'l Swimming Federation (FINA) renewed its agreement with Japan's TV Asahi for the Japanese rights to FINA competitions. The partnership started in '01 with the world championships held in Fukuoka and will continue for the world championships in '15 (Russia), '17 (Mexico) and '19 (Gwangju, South Korea) (FINA). ... French broadcaster L'Equipe 21 has secured a "package of rights to several international friendlies" ahead of the World Cup (SOCCEREX, 5/19). ... FIBA and IMG Media have agreed to a long-term contract for the distribution of the global rights to FIBA's official 3-on-3 competitions, including the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, the city-based FIBA 3x3 All Stars and the FIBA 3x3 World and Zone Championships, which are national team events. The 2014 season will feature a six-stop FIBA 3x3 World Tour which culminates with a final staged in Tokyo, the FIBA 3x3 All Stars held in Doha and the FIBA 3x3 World Championships (for men and women), which will take place in Moscow from June 5-8 (FIBA).
