Brazil Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo Says Argentine 'Barras' Unwelcome At World Cup
Brazil Sports Minister Aldo Rebelo said that aggressive Argentine fans traveling to this summer's World Cup are not welcome, according to CLARIN. Rebelo: "We do not want aggressive Argentines. We do not want violent fans at the World Cup. Not even the countries where such fans come from want them at the Cup." Rebelo's comments follow news that 1,000 members of Argentine fan association "Hinchadas Unidas Argentinas" ("United Argentine Fans"), which consists of the "barras" ("fan gangs") of 38 Argentine clubs, are planning "to go to the World Cup" (CLARIN, 5/13).
