Event Notes: China To Host US Women's Open Qualifying In Shandong Province

China will serve as one of the four int'l sites outside of America "to host a US Women’s Open qualifying in Shandong Province on May 19." Thirty-eight players from five countries and regions "will compete in the China leg with the aim of securing a spot in the field for the 69th US Women’s Open" (SHANGHAI DAILY, 5/13). ... The $1.3M Hong Kong Open will switch to an October date this year, "avoiding another potential clash with two other events." The 56th edition of the Open, "which is still without a title sponsor, will be held at the Hong Kong Golf Club" from Oct. 16-19 (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST, 5/12). ... Int'l Cycling Union team Wanty-Groupe Gobert has been awarded the final wild card to compete in the Tour de Suisse. The Belgium-based team has 23 riders (Tour de Suisse). ... This year's Int'l Table Tennis Federation World Tour China Open will be held in Chengdu, "the capital of Sichuan province," from June 4-8. The event will offer a total bonus of $230,000 and feature 144 athletes from 16 countries and regions (CHINA DAILY, 5/13).
